go through	Examine carefully.	Let’s go through the matter before we decide.
grow up	Become an adult.	He’s 25 but hasn’t grown up yet.
keep on	Continue.	You should keep on trying despite hardships.
leave behind	1- leave and not take along. 2- be survived by.	Her father left behind a small fortune.
log on (to)	Enter a computer.	How often do you log on to chat sites?
look for	Search, seek.	I’m looking for a small house but haven’t yet found one.
look forward to	Expect or hope for.	I look forward to your next letter.
look up	Search for information in a reference book.	I often look up new vocabulary in the dictionary
make up	1- form, 2- use cosmetics.	Young people make up half the population.
put down	Write down, record in writing.	Put down your questions. I’ll answer them later.
set up	Build, found	to set up a program.
show up	Become visible, arrive.	The teacher hasn’t shown up yet.
stand for	symbolize	UN stands for United Nations
take up	Adopt or begin an activity.	You ought to take up swimming.
take care of	Be in charge of or deal with	I have to take care of my small brother.
