INFINITIVE OR GERUND

نعلم أنه إذا تتابع فعلان فإن الثاني يكونINFINITIVE أيTO+ الشكل الاساسي للفعل

لكن هناك استثنائات سأعرض لها في هذا الدرس

1) بعدa preposition يكون الفعل على شكلGERUND أي الفعل+ ING

Examples: I'm fond of watching cartoons.

                Have you ever thought about changing your job?

                She can drive without wearing glasses.

2) الأفعال التالية يتبعها GERUND

Delay Involve Suggest Keep imagine

Admit Enjoy Postpone deny Forgive

Consider Feel like Finish Avoid Resent

Resist Appreciate Miss

It’s worth It’s no use Can’t help Can’t stand Would you mind

3) الأفعال التالية يتبعها Infinitive أوGerund  لكن المعنى يتغير

a- I forgot to call you =نسيت أن أكلمك 

    I forgot calling you= نسيت أني كلمتك

b- I remembered to call you = تذكرت أن أكلمك

  I remembered calling you = تذكرت أني كلمتك

c- I stopped reading newspapers = توقفت عن قراءة الجرائد

    I stopped to read newspapers =  توقفت لقراءة الجرائد

4) الأفعال التالية يليهاInfinitive  بدون to

help   make   let    had better   would rather    must    can    may    might   should   could   needn't
